Canadian defence contracts and who holds them
Every defence and security contract the federal government has disclosed since 2009, with the supplier on each one and the date it runs out. Canada reached the NATO 2% target in March 2026 and has committed to 5% of GDP by 2035, and the 2026 Defence Industrial Strategy sets a target of 70% of defence contracts going to Canadian firms within a decade. Work that is already held is work that comes up again.
Contracts ending in the next 12 months
1,575 defence contracts worth $16.8B reach their end date within the year. Each is work the department has to put back out to market, and the tender for it is not published yet. We can name the supplier on 257 of them; for the rest the government published the amendment without the original award, so the contract is on record and the holder is not.
